In Afghanistan, where violent extremism denies women's rights and opportunities, a group of young women gather to read books, including the diary of a young girl hiding from Nazis in the 1940’s. 

The Secret Reading Club of Kabul is a film about friendship, solidarity, courage and the power of art in a world where the lives of the Afghan women have again and again been shattered by wars, big-power politics, bigotry and totalitarianism.
